Solong hits Stena Immaculate
A US-flagged oil tanker (Stena Immaculate) collided with the container ship Solong off the Yorkshire coast in the North Sea on March 10, 2025. The collision caused a fire, with 32 casualties rescued and one crew member reported missing. The captain of the cargo ship, a Russian national, was arrested and charged with manslaughter and gross negligence. Environmental concerns were raised about potential pollution from the tanker. Attention returned in late March as the fire-damaged Solong was towed into the Port of Aberdeen on March 28, 2025.
