Iran seizes, then releases, Vietnamese tanker
On November 3, 2021, US officials said Iran had seized a Vietnamese-flagged oil tanker in the Gulf of Oman on October 24 and was still holding it; Iran said its forces had foiled a US attempt to seize the vessel. On November 10-11, 2021, satellite and radio signals indicated the tanker had been freed, with reports that oil had been drained from the vessel before its release.
