British cargo ship Verity sinks in North Sea collision
The British cargo ship Verity collided with another cargo vessel in the North Sea off Germany on October 24, 2023. One person died and four went missing after Verity sank. The P&O Iona assisted in rescue operations. The incident also coincided with reports of a Chinese container vessel's anchor damaging the Balticconnector gas pipeline in the Baltic Sea, and a tanker fire near Batangas in the Philippines.
